CD Covington’s first German textbook had a map with the eastern third shaded dark red and labeled “Deutsche Demokratische Republik.” By the time it got to her hands, the vocabulary was long outdated (bell bottoms and reel-to-reels). The map was obsolete shortly thereafter, but the history of divided Germany continues to intrigue her.

There aren’t many opportunities to use her German skills in her adopted home in central North Carolina, but she keeps them up by visiting Germany, watching Bundesliga matches, or reading news sites.

She has reviewed books for Bull Spec, and she blogs occasionally for You can find her fiction and her blog at, and follow her on Twitter @exaggerated.

She is a graduate of Viable Paradise 17 (2013).

CD Covington lives in North Carolina, but she would rather be in Berlin.
